week 3

Topic One My first portrait subject is Jonathan Ropp he is an LBCC student who is considering going into criminal justice. The best environment to shoot Ropp would be in the learning center because that is where you will always find him studying. Props that could work are student books or a binder on a table next to or in front of him. Either by email or in the learning center. My next portrait subject is Mirkayla Hedlund she is also a student her claim to fame is not knowing where she wants to go with her life but she enjoys going to school. The best environment to shoot ms. Hedlund would be in the cafe where she is found either eating and studying or the learning center where she is found getting tutored and studying some more. Some props that would work for this shoot would be any school supplies like books, binders, or pencils/pens. I plan on contacting her by either email or text. Topic Two The best photo I have taken in this class so far would be any of the photos f...

My Life on Campus

Image
I always try to find the beauty in my ordinary everyday life, thats why I like to take photos. I try to take photos of things that make me wonder or make me feel some emotion, things that make me smile. I love color so I try to find very colorful things to take photos of because i am  very colorful person. But sometimes color can be whats in the way of a beautiful photograph it can be too distracting from the spirit of the photo, which is something I learned from the photographer Richard Avedon.

week 2 blog post

Photographer of the week: Name: Cindy Sherman Cindy Sherman is best known for her conceptual portraits, she is also a film director where she made multiple films. She has also been awarded with 4 different awards the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts, MacArthur Fellowship, Hasselblad Award, and the Glamour Award for The Superstar. What stands out about Sherman's photos is how she can make herself look like so many different women. Cindy Sherman's claim to fame is her portraits. Every one has a life of its own, a story it tells that is different than the last. Cindy recreates and creates women throughout time. Topic Two:  So far I find the book very intriguing the way she is able to put us in her shoes like we are actually there gives me shivers. I don't think I could handle what she does with the blood and death, I couldn't watch that. I couldn't just take photos I would want to help but then I would be too scared too. Lynsey Addario has the guts ...

Week 4

Topic One I find number 10 the most compelling section in the Code of Ethics because being a journalist is hard on everyone involved, it can be stressful. But to have someone treat you bad because you are competition and to stress you out more is very bad for your work and your health. Just you know treat people nicely who wants to be known as the asshat in the office. Number 4 stands out to me because at home we avoid talking about politics because we get into some heated argument, I couldn't imagine taking a photo about politics and or civic business involvements just to get some bad backlash from people.  Topic Two Im not sure how to find the other blogs but I know any photo that Aidan would take were all very beautiful! Topic Three My favorite part of the book so far is when she realizes or i guess describes why she does her job. Yes it's dangerous but it is everything to her, she loves her job even when her job may not love her back.

week 10

Topic One 1. My best photo I believe was in my Time Capsule post but i can't pick one.  I would have to choose the last one with the flowers or the water bottles that was really interesting. 2. I think it stands out because, like a lot of people in class thought, the composition was really nice. they filled the screen almost completely. 3. Honestly I didn't really know how to frame or use a camera at all before this class. So I think it says a lot about what I learned. 4. Now I know how to use a camera my skills have gotten a lot better from the beginning of the term. I noticed that I have been able to get closer to my subjects. Topic Two My Goals:  My three goals for taking this class are to take good photos that everyone can enjoy. I know right what is considered a good photo, I believe that a good photo is one that makes you feel something and it makes you think about it. Figuring out my own style is something i'm really trying to figure out. Also I just want...

week 6

Topic One: 1.  I will be photographing Sweet Home OR, because I have lived there for most of my childhood life. 2. Three ideas that I have for the shoot are the lake for the overall, my portrait will be of an employee at Sugar Vibes who happens to be a student at LBCC, and my activity shot will be of the theater at night with a line and the neon lights on. 3. The biggest challenge I will have with these photos is the night one at the theater because I struggle taking darker photos. Topic Two:  1. One photo story I could do is the farmers market in Corvallis. Who: The people of Corvallis and whomever has a booth. What: Farmers Market When: 2. The other photo story I could shoot is a day at the Strawberry Festival with LBCC students. Who: A Student What: Strawberry Festival When Saturday June 2nd

The event was being held "Just for Fun". It didn't take Janel very long to decide on the design she wanted. There were two colors of henna available, black and red. Janel chose to have black as her primary color and eventually added hints of red. She even decided to add more to the simple flower design.

Week 7

Topic One: Two tips from the talks that I found interesting were 1. Patience, the perfect shot will come to you. 2.  The photos where they make a face are the best The way I can use these tips in my sports action shots is by waiting for the shot to come to me. Staying for the whole game so I can get as many different shots as I can. Then use the second tip by keeping the photos where people are making funny faces instead of worrying about if they look good. Topic Two: 1. My Sports action subject is the Softball State Championships Playoff Rounds. 2.Thursday May 17th in Sweet Home at 5:00 p.m. 3. My overall shot will be from (standing) on bleachers at an angle, my medium shot will be of the team in the dugout, and then my closeup shot will be of the coach hopefully with an expression on their face.
