Marvel v.s. DC


If you happen to like Superheros, trivia, pizza, and beer then I know where you should have been Tuesday, Jan.30 where Schmizza Public House in Lebanon hosted a Marvel v.s. DC trivia night.In which LBCC was represented by a group of students who were not afraid to show off their very own cosplay. These four students were on the team "The Doom Dudes"and it consisted of Sydney Lavoie as the Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Mattie Guillams as Harley Quinn, Mitch Smith as The Riddler, and Shay Speedly as Poison Ivy. And every one of them were for Marvel even if their cosplay says otherwise.

The event lasted from 7-9 p.m. and many people were present. It was a wonder how anyone could hear anything through all of the bickering and laughing of around 100 people as well as the hustle and bustle in the kitchen. The trivia questions were presented by Steve Woodley, an employee at Schmizza, who seemed to really know his facts and opinions saying "not that the movie was bad but the song was better" when "Heathens" by Twenty One Pilots played. He asked many questions including "This thief has always had a ruthless personality but honestly shes probably saved Batman more times than Robin." No one in the crowd of people seemed tricked by this question and all started to write down their answers. If you couldn't figure it out the answer was Catwoman. 

Lavoie said that she heard about the Marvel v.s. DC trivia night through past trivia nights and some friends. Team Doom Dudes had high hopes believing that they would earn first place, and yet they had not. Another team named "ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA" had acquired first place. But do not worry, team Doom Dudes still made it to third place.

Week 4

Topic One I find number 10 the most compelling section in the Code of Ethics because being a journalist is hard on everyone involved, it can be stressful. But to have someone treat you bad because you are competition and to stress you out more is very bad for your work and your health. Just you know treat people nicely who wants to be known as the asshat in the office. Number 4 stands out to me because at home we avoid talking about politics because we get into some heated argument, I couldn't imagine taking a photo about politics and or civic business involvements just to get some bad backlash from people.  Topic Two Im not sure how to find the other blogs but I know any photo that Aidan would take were all very beautiful! Topic Three My favorite part of the book so far is when she realizes or i guess describes why she does her job. Yes it's dangerous but it is everything to her, she loves her job even when her job may not love her back.

week 10

Topic One 1. My best photo I believe was in my Time Capsule post but i can't pick one.  I would have to choose the last one with the flowers or the water bottles that was really interesting. 2. I think it stands out because, like a lot of people in class thought, the composition was really nice. they filled the screen almost completely. 3. Honestly I didn't really know how to frame or use a camera at all before this class. So I think it says a lot about what I learned. 4. Now I know how to use a camera my skills have gotten a lot better from the beginning of the term. I noticed that I have been able to get closer to my subjects. Topic Two My Goals:  My three goals for taking this class are to take good photos that everyone can enjoy. I know right what is considered a good photo, I believe that a good photo is one that makes you feel something and it makes you think about it. week 2 blog post

Photographer of the week: Name: Cindy Sherman Cindy Sherman is best known for her conceptual portraits, she is also a film director where she made multiple films. She has also been awarded with 4 different awards the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts, MacArthur Fellowship, Hasselblad Award, and the Glamour Award for The Superstar. What stands out about Sherman's photos is how she can make herself look like so many different women. Cindy Sherman's claim to fame is her portraits. Every one has a life of its own, a story it tells that is different than the last. Cindy recreates and creates women throughout time. Topic Two:  So far I find the book very intriguing the way she is able to put us in her shoes like we are actually there gives me shivers. I don't think I could handle what she does with the blood and death, I couldn't watch that. I couldn't just take photos I would want to help but then I would be too scared too.
